all dese governments and dis this and that, these people that say they're here to help, why them say you cannot smoke the herb? herb... herb is a plant, you know? and when me check it, me can't find no reason. all them say is, 'it make you rebel'. against what?

from a narrow street in fort cochi in kerala to a dilapidated canteen in jawaharlal nehru university in delhi, and this one by the roadside in the hill town of mcleod ganj in himachal pradesh, the baba who loved to smoke the peace pipe yesterday inspires those who want to smoke the peace pipe today.
   






eating out in this town swings between two extremes — you get dumplings or 'english' breakfast, thanks to the large number of foreign backpackers. tourists leave their messages and photos at carpe diem, a popular continental restaurant in the main town.
